JUNO Project: CDR Centrifugal Pumps for Neutrino Studies in China<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The JUNO<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) project was born in China, an international experiment carried out in collaboration with the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After supplying the first seven centrifugal pumps in 2018, CDR Pompe is proud to continue its collaboration with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the Institute of High Energy Physics (Ihep) in China: another <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>17 CDR centrifugal pumps<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> will be supplied and used to operate a gigantic underground liquid scintillator neutrino detector, whose construction began in 2015 and will start operating in 2021.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The international project, involving the collaboration of universities and research institutions from 16 different countries, will utilize the same technology as the Borexino experiment at the INFN Gran Sasso National Laboratories. To detect neutrinos, twenty thousand tons of scintillator liquid will be used, contained within a sphere forty meters in diameter. Surrounding this sphere, twenty thousand photomultipliers with a diameter of 50 cm will measure the interaction between neutrinos and the liquid.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
