FERTILIZERS
CDR Pumps for the Fertilizer Sector
Applications:
The fertilizer sector is mainly divided into two areas: “Commodities”and the“Specialties”The first area includes products derived from raw materials methane, used for the production of ammonia, urea, nitric acid, and ammonium nitrate, as well as from sulfuric acid and phosphate rocks, possibly combined with potassium salts. The fertilizers obtained can be either simple or compound and derive from synthesis or mixing processes, depending on the technology employed.
The second area concerns “specialties,” a category of fertilizers characterized by highly specific performance and differentiated. These products require advanced and cutting-edge technologies, as well as flexible production facilities capable of promptly responding to market demands.
In the fertilizer production industry, the most commonly used CDR centrifugal pumps are the models UTS, UTN, XTN, XTS e UCL.
The UTS pump, Made of AISI 316 stainless steel, they are designed for continuous operation (24/7) and can handle wide temperature ranges, from -100°C to +300°C, thanks to specific configurations. The integral cast feet ensure optimal resistance to connection loads and precise alignment between the pump and motor.
The UTN pump they are intended for continuous process services and are particularly suitable in their PFA version, to ensure chemical compatibility with the fluids used in fertilizer production.
The new XTS and XTN centrifugal pumps They were developed for pumping liquids containing suspended solids, a common condition in fertilizer production (slurry). A major advantage of these pumps, thanks to magnetic drive technology, is the absence of emissions. The X series was designed with innovative technologies to improve performance, safety, and reliability in basic chemical processes.
Finally, the UCL is a centrifugal pump coated with mechanical seals, available with PFA, PVDF, or Polypropylene coatings. UCL pumps are ideal for handling corrosive, hazardous, or dirty liquids, thanks to the coating that protects all parts in contact with the process fluid. The UCL can handle fluids up to 140°C with PFA coating, up to 100°C with PVDF, and up to 70°C with Polypropylene. Furthermore, it is possible to choose between single or double mechanical seals, depending on the specific application requirements.
